A facial or a massage is the most common spa treatment we associate with. These two treatments are the foundation of many spas. A facial is the best way for you to have beautiful skin. What about a body scrub massage, you ask? What if we discovered that a spa scrub combines both of these treatments and extends its principles to the rest of the body?
Why Should We Get Scrubbed?
1. Increase Cell Turnover
A good body scrub can also help remove old, damaged skin cells. Sometimes, our skin is not doing an excellent job of shedding old skin cells. It can lead to skin problems such as ingrown hairs and rough patches. We leave with glowing, silky skin after a thorough scrub.
2. Stimulate Collagen Production
Scrubbing the skin can bring new skin cells to the surface. This process increases the cell turnover rate, including collagen, elastin, and other cells. A good scrub can increase collagen and elastin production, which results in a more youthful-looking skin texture. Who wouldn't like a more youthful body?
3. Increase Circulation and Encourage Lymphatic Drainage
The therapist will use a combination of short and long strokes and circular motions to target pressure points. Combining pressure and strokes can provide the same benefits as a light massage. It improves blood circulation and stimulates lymph fluid movement from stagnant areas.
4. Reach Neglected Areas
Professionals can provide thorough cleaning in between toes and thigh folds.
What Should We Expect From A Body Scrub?
We are invited into a treatment room and asked to change our clothes before lying down on a specific treatment slab. The scrub is gentle on the skin. The scrub usually contains natural ingredients like clay, sugar, coffee, or nutshells husks. These are the steps to make a spa scrub.
1. Change into Disposable Underwear: You will be asked to take off your clothes and change them into disposable underwear. Women can choose to cover their breasts in a towel or not.
2. Get Exfoliated: After checking that we are comfortable, our aesthetician enters the room and applies the exfoliating products to our bodies. They begin to exfoliate our bodies section by section.
3. Get a Mask: After exfoliation, we are covered with a mineral-rich body mask made from volcanic clay or another nourishing product.
4. Get Rid of: Therapists use a shower to gently remove the exfoliating products and any dead skin cells that aren't visible.
5. Get Moisturized: After the product has been thoroughly rinsed, our therapist will gently dry us from head to toe and apply a lotion or oil to moisturize our skin.
Take a Pampering Package
You can enjoy the body scrub massage as a standalone treatment or as part of a luxurious package. A scrub before a massage will leave your skin soft and supple. It will also help to boost blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.
